“Control is an Illusion!
Understanding what the aids are and how they are used to create effective communication with the horse.”
Through a brief lecture and a series of demonstrations attendees will learn the basic riding aids, what they are and how to use them to develop a harmonious relationship with the horse under saddle. Demonstration riders and horses will be used first to show the correct (and incorrect) use of the basic aids and then how the aids can be ‘chained’ together to create more sophisticated responses from the horse. Dressage exercises and figures will be incorporated to demonstrate how they are used to facilitate the horse’s understanding of ‘chained’ or combined aids. A final demonstration will exhibit how the combined aids can be used to produce the high level gymnastic exercises such as piaffe/passage and tempi changes.
